Event Description

Last month when he was with us, we talked with Eric about his background as an inspired singer and songwriter who believes that music can not only express the artist's core values, but it can also make a difference in the lives of others. His songs brought him to the attention of the United Nations Global Initiative to Fight Human Trafficking, and he was invited to perform at their international conference in Vienna, Austria last year.

Eric then committed himself to run 500 miles in chains from the Statue of Liberty in New York, to the tomb of the British abolitionist pioneer, William Wilberforce, in London. Eric ran this past August, and this week, he'll be here to tell us about his experience during the run and the impact that his personal commitment has had to promote the movement to end child sex slavery worldwide.

Devoted husband and father of five daughters, motivational speaker, youth educator/mentor, and singer/songwriter Eric Proffitt has been using music to communicate for over 20 years. He has co-developed and presented anti-violence workshops, sung and presented at conferences across North America and Europe, inspired youth with his 2006 pop/rock CD "Hold On," and last year played to enthusiastic audiences in Vienna, Austria.

Eric is a visionary who is so passionate about freedom and families!

This year Eric that he and his family sold their house and are committing all their time and resources to bringing attention to slavery and human trafficking. Said Eric, "I have never seen a problem so large, of which so few people are aware. I want to shine a light in this dark corner. With your help, that is exactly what we will do. We will see slaves go free."

Please join us this week for what promises to be a stimulating discussion on Wednesday, October 21 at our usual time, 8:00 PM (Eastern / NY time).
