What inspired you to write your book? if applicable

In 2000, I took a solo trip around the world. I filed a weekly column about my trip from the road called Journey with Gina for The Hartford Courant. Women from across the country e-mailed me not to ask about the logistics or geography of my journey but about the existential aspects of my trip. They asked questions such as: "Where do you find the courage to go alone?" "How do you keep from getting lonely?" "Aren't you self-conscious dining out alone?" After about 30 such e-mails I realized I had an idea for a book.
